The Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) announced today its decision to maintain the current support prices for butter and skim milk powder.
As of February 1, 2018, the support price for butter will therefore remain at $8.0062 per kg and the support price for skim milk powder will remain at $4.5302 per kg.
OTTAWA, July 15, 2016 – The Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) announced today an increase in the support prices of butter and skim milk powder that will be effective September 1, 2016. The support price of butter will increase from $7.7815 to $8.0062. The support price of skim milk powder will increase from $4.4176 to $4.5302/kg.

The previous Total Quota model was designed in a period of stable 1-2% growth and was based on a 12-month rolling Total Requirements figure. In recent years, the increased pace of growth in the Canadian dairy industry meant that there was a lag between changes in demand being registered in the quota calculation.
